Olsen Baseball Collection:
The following Baseballs come from the C.E. "Pat" Olsen Estate Collection. Pat
Olsen began accumulating baseball memorabilia in 1924 when he was invited to
the New York Yankees spring training and roomed with Lou Gehrig. Although he
never quite made the big league roster, he forged lifelong friendships with
Gehrig, Earle Combs, Mark Koenig, and a host of others during the three years
in the Yankees farm system. Pat Olsen gave up baseball after a few seasons then
began a lengthy and successful business career in the manufacturing business.
Through his life, he remained close friends with Earle Combs and the New York
Yankee organization and was considered a part of the Yankee family. His
generosity was unmatched as he helped older ballplayers down on their luck. He
was a guest at all Yankee special events, Hall of Fame induction weekends, as
well as All-Star and World Series games. Pat Olsen holds the world record for
attending the most World Series games of anyone in history. Before passing away
at the age of 97, in the year 2000, he witnessed nearly 400 World Series games
over 70 years! He was featured in the 1982 World Series program that details
his amazing streak. Pat Olsen also had the honor of throwing out the first
pitch of the 1984 World Series between the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres.
Over his 70 year tie to baseball, he accumulated hundreds of signed baseballs,
photos, handwritten letters, programs, bats, etc. This letter will serve as
documentation that the following item was part of the C.E. "Pat" Olsen
Collection:
Each ball comes with letter of impeccable provenance from C.E. "Pat" Olsen
Junior and in addition, has an L.O.A. from industry respected Global
Authentication Inc.
